Pinckney wedding couple kisses as guests wave lighted

Christmas Themed Wedding | Dava & Jason

When I first spoke with Dava and Jason about their Christmas themed wedding plans, I could tell right away that this wasn’t going to be your average celebration. Not only did they have some incredible surprises planned, but they chose one of the coolest wedding dates ever—12/11/21, a palindrome! As a proud numbers nerd, I was immediately hooked.

Their Christmas themed wedding was set for winter here in Michigan. This already made it extra special since winter weddings are few and far between. Dava and Jason’s favorite holiday is Christmas, so it was only fitting that they leaned fully into the holiday spirit. The American Legion in Pinckney was transformed into a North Pole dream come true. Twinkling lights, festive décor, and cozy, wintery details everywhere you looked. The only thing missing was the snow, but in true Michigan fashion, the weather decided to keep us on our toes.

Santa Claus Officiating? Only at This Christmas Themed Wedding

The biggest surprise? Santa Claus himself officiated the ceremony! Talk about a guaranteed spot on the nice list. When I arrived, Santa gave me a little tip—keep an eye on his naughty and nice list. And sure enough, when he flipped open the “naughty” side during the ceremony, flames shot out of the book! Everyone erupted in laughter, and it was the perfect touch of humor and holiday magic.

Every detail of Dava and Jason’s Christmas themed wedding felt thoughtful and personal. From the decorations to the joyful energy in the room, it was like stepping straight into a holiday storybook. Even without the snow, it truly felt like a winter wonderland.

But what stood out most was Dava and Jason themselves. They are the kind of people who instantly make you feel welcome—kind-hearted, down to earth, and so full of warmth. Their love and joy were contagious, and it was an absolute honor to be part of their unforgettable day.
