Tahquamenon Falls Surprise Proposal | Lucas & Kassidy

Stealth Mode: A Tahquamenon Falls Surprise Proposal

When Lucas reached out to me about photographing his surprise proposal to his long-time girlfriend Kassidy, I was thrilled to be part of such a special moment. The plan was set: capture an unforgettable Tahquamenon Falls surprise proposal, and make it all look effortless. Here’s how it all unfolded.

I drove up to the Upper Peninsula a day before the proposal with my boyfriend, blending into the tourist crowd. We stayed at the most tranquil cabin on the north side of Manistique Lake, Interlaken Resort. On the day of the big event, we wandered around the falls as if we were just another pair of visitors. Meanwhile, Lucas and I had been coordinating through text messages to ensure everything went smoothly.

As we walked along the path near the overlook of the falls, I kept my eyes peeled for Lucas and Kassidy’s arrival. When they finally showed up, I gave Lucas a subtle nod to signal that I was ready. His excitement and nervousness were palpable as he waited for the perfect moment to pop the question.

Fall had brought an influx of tourists to the falls, making it challenging to find a clear spot. But then, the ideal opportunity presented itself. Lucas dropped to one knee, and Kassidy, taken by surprise, joyfully said, “Yes!”

After the initial excitement settled, I introduced myself and we embarked on an engagement session around the falls. Although the weather took a turn and we ended up getting drenched by rain, it added a unique and dramatic touch to the photos. The rain only enhanced the images, capturing the raw emotion and beauty of their special day.

The experience of photographing Lucas and Kassidy’s Tahquamenon Falls surprise proposal was truly magical. Despite the weather challenges, the love and joy between them shone through in every shot. It was an honor to be part of their unforgettable moment and to document such a heartfelt occasion.
