Mill Race Village Wedding | Alan & Brandon
A Mill Race Village Wedding with Rich History
Alan and Brandon’s Mill Race Village wedding was the perfect mix of historic charm and personal meaning. Located in Northville, Michigan, this unique venue preserves local history while offering a beautiful backdrop for weddings. I had visited Mill Race Historical Village before with my daughter, but seeing it dressed up for a wedding made it even more magical.
The couple chose to exchange vows inside the New School Church, a Greek Revival building originally constructed in 1845. With its columned entrance and restored wooden interior, it felt both timeless and welcoming. Their ceremony honored tradition while celebrating their modern love, surrounded by the warmth of family and close friends.
Exploring the Village After the Ceremony
After the ceremony, we explored the Village with their wedding party, stopping to take portraits near many of the historic buildings. From the charming schoolhouse to the rustic wooden bridge, each stop added a unique backdrop to their wedding photos. The best part? Their dog joined the festivities, proudly sporting a tiny tuxedo. He stole the show more than once and added a perfect dose of personality to the day.
A Cozy Reception Filled with Light and Laughter
Their reception space felt warm and inviting. Soft golden hour light filled the room, casting a lovely glow over the celebration. Alan and Brandon set their tables in a U-shape, encouraging connection and conversation among guests. It made the evening feel intimate, like one big family dinner, which suited the couple perfectly.
This Mill Race Village wedding was everything a celebration should be: meaningful, joyful, and filled with the kind of moments that stick with you. I’m so grateful I got to be part of it.
