How to Plan a VRBO Wedding: Jade & Arynn’s Orchard Hill Farm Celebration

When it comes to weddings, there’s something truly special about creating a day that reflects who you are as a couple. For Jade and their partner, Arynn, that meant an intimate and stylish VRBO wedding at the breathtaking Orchard Hill Farm in western Michigan.

A Personal Connection

I’ve known Jade for a while now—we used to play roller derby together back when I lived in Jackson! Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing different milestones for her family, from senior photos for her little sister to her son’s senior portraits. So, when Jade reached out about photographing their wedding, I was beyond excited.

Why a VRBO Wedding?

Opting for a VRBO wedding gives couples the freedom to design their day exactly how they envision it. Unlike traditional venues with rigid timelines and rules, a VRBO allows for a more relaxed, personalized celebration. Orchard Hill Farm was the perfect choice for Jade and Arynn. Nestled on a scenic hilltop, this 1916 farmhouse (which was lovingly restored in 2017) backs up to a beautiful apple orchard, with the soothing sounds of Lake Michigan waves in the background. It provided the perfect mix of rustic charm and natural beauty—ideal for an unforgettable celebration.

The Dreamiest Vintage Tablescape

Jade, who owns the incredible Moonrise Vintage Shop, brought their impeccable style to the wedding design. Every single piece of tableware was thrifted by Jade themselves, creating a tablescape that felt both curated and deeply personal. The combination of vintage glassware, mismatched china, and elegant details made this one of my favorite setups to date.

The Beauty of an Orchard Hill Farm Wedding

Orchard Hill Farm offers wide open spaces to explore, breathtaking sunsets, and some of the best deer-watching around. The venue’s natural charm made for a stunning backdrop, whether we were capturing intimate moments between the couple or the joyful energy of their loved ones celebrating.

Tips for Planning Your Own VRBO Wedding

Thinking about hosting your own VRBO wedding? Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Check the Venue’s Policies: Every rental property has its own rules regarding events, so make sure you get the green light before booking.
  • Consider Logistics: Unlike traditional venues, you may need to coordinate rentals for tables, chairs, and restrooms if they’re not already provided.
  • Plan for the Weather: If your VRBO wedding is outdoors, have a backup plan in case of rain.
  • Make It Personal: One of the best parts of a VRBO wedding is the freedom to customize every detail, just like Jade did with their beautifully curated decor.

Capturing the Magic

Jade and Arynn’s wedding was the perfect example of how a VRBO wedding can be both intimate and incredibly stylish. With a stunning setting, a personal touch in every detail, and the love of their closest friends and family, it was a day to remember.

If you’re considering a VRBO wedding and want a photographer who understands the beauty of a unique, personal celebration, I’d love to help document your day! Let’s chat about your vision and how we can make it come to life.
