Bride snuggles into Archer the horse at her Metamora wedding

Metamora Wedding | Shay & Kyle

Shay and Kyle’s Metamora Wedding was the perfect reflection of their love—joyful, relaxed, and full of meaningful moments. Their property, surrounded by rolling Michigan hills, created the dreamiest backdrop for the day. The heat was no surprise. Every time we’ve worked together (remember their engagement session?) it’s been muggy, and this day was no exception. Temperatures soared to 90°F with 63% humidity. I came prepared with my 40oz water bottle, refilled several times throughout the celebration. The morning began inside with details and Shay getting ready. Their daughter twirled through the house, impatient for the party to begin. Laughter and nerves filled the air, and you could feel how much this day meant to everyone.

Heartfelt Moments and a Magical Entrance at Their Metamora Wedding

One of the most emotional moments came when Shay and Kyle exchanged private vows back to back in the front yard. They poured their hearts out without seeing each other before the ceremony. It was raw and heartfelt, a memory they’ll never forget. Afterward, Shay prepared for her unforgettable entrance. She posed with Archer, a horse from Freedom Acres Farm, before riding him to the ceremony. Her dad walked alongside, leading Archer down the aisle. Guests were in awe when they saw Shay’s grand arrival. Meanwhile, Kyle waited with nerves and excitement, ready to see his bride. Their daughter lit up the aisle as the most animated flower girl I’ve ever seen. The ceremony was short, sweet, and filled with love, just like Shay and Kyle themselves.

A Relaxed Reception and Golden Hour Portraits in Metamora

After the ceremony, we took family photos before moving on to portraits of Shay and Kyle. Shay, being a wedding photographer herself, knew how important these images would be. The reception followed with good food, plenty of laughter, and the easygoing vibe that fit them perfectly. Later, we walked to the hayfield for golden hour portraits. The sun dipped behind the clouds, creating the perfect soft glow. Those portraits captured their love and joy in the most natural way. As evening arrived, they cut their cake, shared first dances, and laughed with their guests. Before I left, Shay and Kyle changed into comfortable clothes to finish celebrating. Their Metamora Wedding was warm, authentic, and unforgettable.
