St Mary Magdalen Brighton, MI Wedding | Alex & Maria

A St Mary Magdalen Brighton Wedding Full of Firsts and Heart

Even after years of photographing weddings, I still experience exciting firsts. Alex and Maria’s St Mary Magdalen Brighton wedding gave me one of those. This marked my first time photographing a Hispanic wedding, and I loved every moment. They chose to marry at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Brighton, Michigan, surrounded by family, tradition, and joy.

Their ceremony included a mariachi band and a beautiful wedding lasso ritual. Maria and Alex’s godparents placed a crystal rosary around their shoulders to represent unity and eternal love. The energy in the room felt both reverent and celebratory. I felt grateful to document such meaningful moments from their culture and relationship.

Teamwork and Family Photos Made Easy

Although I don’t speak Spanish, we made the family portraits work beautifully. Maria translated my directions, and we followed the list of photo combinations she had prepared. Her help and calm presence kept things smooth and fun. We finished all the photos with time to spare.

This moment was a perfect reminder that language barriers can be overcome with kindness, planning, and a little patience. We captured every family photo with time to spare, and lots of smiles in between.

A Reception Full of Joy (and Dancing!)

After the ceremony, we drove to Milford for the reception. The mariachi band came along and played while guests arrived, adding energy to the celebration. Inside the venue, a towering gold cake greeted guests with elegance and flair. Maria and Alex designed a space that felt joyful and welcoming.

Once dinner wrapped up, the dancing began—and didn’t stop. Every guest joined the dance floor. Even I ended up dancing, which rarely happens! Their St Mary Magdalen Brighton wedding overflowed with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
