I know I say it time and time again, but honestly don’t know how I manage to get such amazing clients. Aubree and Jake’s Misty Farms wedding was no exception and nothing short of stunning. They had a breath-taking vintage chic barn wedding that incorporated just the right amount of DIY details letting Aubree and Jake’s personality really shine through. From the day we met for their consultation and Aubree told me they wanted their engagement session at Joe Louis Arena, I just knew they were going to be a total blast to work with.
Misty Farms has two sites on their grounds for weddings, theirs took place at the newly opened Valley. This was my first time photographing a wedding there, but it took my breath away. From the moment I drove onto the property, I knew the day was going to be beautiful. The farm is such a gorgeous venue for a wedding! The ceremony location was a fair distance from the room where the bride gets ready, but Aubree came up with a genius idea solution on how not to be seen by Jake before she walked down the aisle. She bought two doors and had the ushers keep them “closed” until it was her time, then they opened them and she walked down the aisle. It was such an adorable DIY touch to the already cute details of their wedding day.
The cake cutting is usually a sweet moment shared between the couple, but what started off as a sweet moment quickly turned into chaos when Jake snuck a piece of cake behind Aubree’s head and smashed in in her face. She had some pretty quick reflexes though and was able to retaliate. Both of them had cake smeared across their faces; I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that hard!
These are gorgeous! I love all the details you captured, and what an awesome place for a wedding!
These are gorgeous! I love how you’ve captured so many details, love the sets of shoes especially. This place looks like an amazing wedding venue as well.
These two are clearly in love – beautiful work!
