Groom cracking up during Ypsilanti wedding first dance

Ypsilanti Wedding at Conservancy Farm | Rachel & Wade

Somehow I always manage to have an outdoor wedding on one of the hottest and most humid days of the year. The heat doesn’t bother me at all, just makes me thankful that I am not the one being photographed. I would just be a gross, sweaty mess. Rachel and Wade on the other hand were champs! Their Ypsilanti micro wedding was held at Conservancy Farm near LeFurge Woods Nature Preserve on top of a hill. The forecast called for storms and the skies agreed, much to our surprise not a drop fell.

Rachel was getting ready elsewhere therefore I had not seen her until she was walking down the aisle. Let me tell you, my jaw literally dropped as I watched her walk up the hill. Her baby blue lace dress was the most breathtaking wedding dress I’ve ever seen! Actually in all of the 12 years of photographing weddings, Rachel had the first dress that wasn’t white or ivory. Let me just say, I LOVE IT! I know that white or ivory is the traditional dress colors, however if that doesn’t fit your personality, don’t be afraid to go a different route. After all, your wedding is about you and your partner!

Cutest Flower Girl of them All

The icing on the cake (gosh I love a good pun), was their dog, Surah, was their flower girl. She’s a very obedient, and super cute Border Collie. Actually Rachel is a dog trainer and Surah is perfect reflection of her skills. She had flowers on her collar and looked all around sophisticated with her black and white coat. Just check out these photos below, it doesn’t it get any cuter than that!

Corner Brewery Ypsilanti Wedding Reception

Rachel and Wade’s reception was held at Arbor Brewing Co.’s Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti. Their even room is so gorgeous with their concrete floor and exposed brick. It has a ton of natural light too! Rachel and Wade’s nicknames for each other is Panda, so they had custom steins made with each of their names. Freakin’ adorable! At one point during the festivities Wade pulled me aside to let me know that he was going to surprise Rachel with a song that he wrote for her. Um, how many people can say they have their very own song?! Everyone gathered around to watch, but in that moment you could see that it really was just the two of them, the rest of us didn’t matter.
