Hudson Mills Metropark Engagement | Dakota & Talia

There’s something extra special about engagement sessions that feel like an adventure. Dakota and Talia’s Hudson Mills Metropark engagement was exactly that; full of laughter, love, and a few surprises along the way. From their sweet pup Tucker to some playful river splashing (and an unexpected wildlife guest), every moment was uniquely them. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to get to know these two.

A Picture-Perfect Day for a Hudson Mills Metropark Engagement

When Dakota and Talia reached out, I knew their session would be something special. A close friend referred them my way, and I’m so glad she did. During our planning chat, they mentioned wanting to include their dog, Tucker, and Dakota’s beloved truck. I immediately loved the mix of playful and personal, two of my favorite things to capture.

We met at one of my favorite places for engagement photos, Hudson Mills Metropark. The cottonwood trees had just started dropping their fluff, and it looked like soft snow swirling around us. It added such a dreamy feel to their session. We started along the Huron River, where the light was glowing and the air was warm. Tucker happily trotted alongside, making every moment feel relaxed and full of joy.

River Adventures and Unexpected Guests

Dakota and Talia were up for anything, even a splash in the river. I love when couples are playful and a little adventurous. Their energy together was easy and fun, and the images really show their connection. Then something wild happened. While they stood on a big boulder mid-river, a massive snapping turtle tried to squeeze between the rocks under their feet.

I panicked a little and all I could blurt out was, “Thing! BIG THING!” Once we scrambled back to dry land, we could not stop laughing. That story will live on forever, and honestly, it made their Hudson Mills Metropark engagement session even more memorable. See if you can find the turtle in the image!

Trucks, Tucker, and True Love

After our turtle adventure, we wrapped up with some photos around Dakota’s truck. This is when I really saw them settle in. These images are laid-back, sweet, and even a little spicy; in the best way. It felt like we captured who they are at their core.

Hudson Mills Metropark offered the perfect setting for this session. From riverside cuddles to rolling up their jeans for a splash, every part felt true to them. I am so grateful to be part of telling this chapter of their story.

UPDATE
