Inquires always get me so excited when they land in my inbox. It’s like when you get something in the mail that isn’t a bill! So when Lavender contacted me for her Belle Isle wedding, I was super pumped to learn that they were getting married at the Belle Isle Conservatory in Detroit. For a while I had been hoping to get the honor to photograph there, and now was my chance! The weather was pretty mild for their early November wedding, so the temperature inside the conservatory was absolutely fabulous. The rooms filled with lush green trees and arid desert landscapes made for the most gorgeous backdrops during their wedding photos. The room they held their wedding in was called the Fernery. It is the perfect room for such an intimate event, they had roughly 20-30 guests with still plenty of space for more.
From there, we took their Belle Isle wedding outside into the formal gardens. It rained the days leading up to their wedding, so the grounds were pretty soggy. That little snafu didn’t stop me! I was still able to capture a few gorgeous images of Adam and Lavender with the Detroit skyline in the background. I just love the contrast of nature and urban environment.
Belle Isle Wedding Turns Creole
Adam and Lavender hosted their wedding reception dinner at Fishbones in Detroit. Side note, but if you love creole cuisine like I do, this place is a must for dinner! I highly recommend trying the crawfish étouffée and alligator voodoo. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. But I digress. They served a delicious family style dinner. Meals like this really get guests talking, and I like hearing how they play a role in the couples lives. Their guests were given adorable heart-shaped loose tea holders and tea straight from India. Such a unique way to remember their Detroit wedding!
This is such a fun and personal wedding!
