It’s not often that I get to do maternity photos, so I was thrilled when my cousin asked me to be her Ann Arbor maternity photographer (do you remember her awesome engagement photos?). She flew in from Oklahoma so we only had a short window to get them done. We planned the exact day in advance, but it had spent the morning and the previous couple of days raining, I had my fingers crossed that it would clear up for the session. Luckily, it did and we were able to get some really beautiful maternity photos.
The Matthaei Botanical Gardens is one of my favorite places to go in Ann Arbor, and even if I’m not photographing there it’s fabulous for an evening stroll. Every time I go there I always see something new and this time wasn’t any different. There was a newly installed bonsai garden that was open and I didn’t know existed, and for the first time we went into the greenhouse where all the cacti are. It was very cool to be able to capture different elements in her maternity photos that I typically can’t get living in Michigan. The image with the cactus is one of my favorites from the evening.
